Did you know that Church of the Holy Family sets aside 10% of the yearly offering from our parishioners to prayerfully grant to nonprofit organizations both in our local community and our sister parish in Haiti.
This act of charity is defined as Tithing, “Generous giving that is an acknowledgment everything we have is a gift from God, and is to be used in His service”.
Church of the Holy Family provides yearly grant funding to support the purchase of food items for St Vincent DePaul in Norwich Soup Kitchen to serve on average 300 meals per day. Our Social Outreach Ministry develops long term relationships with our grant site directors and volunteer staff which enable us to gain better understanding of related initiatives we can offer and opportunities to fill unmet needs.
When our young Church of the Holy Family Parishioners, AJ, and Evan Novotny brought an idea to our CRE director to start up the Sandwich Kids Ministry we connected their desire to help with the need of St Vincent DePaul for Sunday sandwiches. We are proud of their commitment to this cause and their understanding of how at a young age they can make a significant contribution to help meet the needs of the less fortunate in our community.
To date the Sandwich Kids have prepared and delivered over 1300 Sandwiches made by families of our parish.
The Sandwich (tween) Kids meet once monthly. See more details in the bulletin for the next meeting in the hall kitchen, set for Jan 22nd after the Sunday Mass and remember all donations of sandwich fixings are greatly appreciated to provide assistance to fill the need.
