Liturgy Ministry

Welcome!

Our Liturgy Ministry is an excellent opportunity to fulfill your baptismal call of service to one another. Our liturgies should use the talents and gifts that God has given this community to the fullest extent. Whether participation is through “behind the scenes” preparation and planning or through a public role of service within the Mass, parishioner contributions help our liturgies to be truly life-giving celebrations. Please prayerfully consider sharing your talents with the Liturgy Ministry.

The term ‘liturgy’ refers to the worship of our parish community of faith and is the center and focus of our parish life.

Our celebrations of the Eucharist, the Sacraments, prayer services, and other forms of parish prayer, such as Stations of the Cross, are all part of our community worship and the liturgy.

The Liturgy Ministry assists our pastor in creating our parish’s liturgy so that the experiences of our parishioners are prayerful and meaningful. Our team is composed of the pastor, chairperson, coordinators of the liturgical ministries and parishioners interested in helping to advance the mission of the ministry.

The liturgical ministries represented are:

  • Altar Servers
  • Art and Environment
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
  • Greeters
  • Lectors
  • Music
  • Sacristans

The Liturgy Ministry Team meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month from September to June to evaluate, reflect, plan and implement the worship life of our parish community.

Arts & Environment

art environThe goal of the Art and Environment ministry is to provide a prayerful worship space that is in keeping with the liturgical season and special feasts of the Church calendar. Many elements are included in our parish's worship environment: altar linens and vestments, the sacred vessels used for the celebration of the Eucharist, flowers, fabrics, and other items used to bring emphasis to the liturgical season or theme, upkeep and cleaning of the church building - just to name a few.

The Art and Environment ministry needs many hands to assist with the preparation of the church, particularly at the time of major feasts such as Christmas and Easter. All parishioners who have an interest in preparing our parish home for our liturgical celebrations are invited to participate in this ministry by contacting one of the coordinators.
